Book Review: Wild Stars 3 - Time Warmageddon

Not too long ago, I had the pleasure of reviewing the June 2018 issue of Cirsova Magazine. Being my first time reading Cirsova, I found myself absolutely in love with the stories they’d selected. Imagine my surprise (and glee!) then when they asked me to review an advance review copy of their upcoming science-fiction novella Wild Stars III: Time Warmageddon, written by Michael Tierney. If you’ve never heard of Wild Stars, don’t worry because until that moment, I hadn’t either.

News: Shadow of the Tomb Raider Trailer Unveiled at E3 2018

Nothing, and I mean nothing, brings back memories for me like Tomb Raider. From the moment I first played Lara Croft in the game’s 1996 debut, I was hooked. It was even the reason I got my first degree in archaeology (in addition to a genuine love for ancient history and human culture, of course). This series is so near-and-dear to my heart that I legitimately screamed in absolute glee when I watched the unveiling of Square Enix’s Shadow of the Tomb Raider trailer.

Movie Review: Darkness Reigns

So, let me ask you this.  If you had to pick a location, where would you want to film your horror movie?  In a crazy haunted location obviously, am I right?  Seriously, what could go wrong?  Well, watch Darkness Reigns, due to be released on July 10, 2018, and find out! On the surface, the film’s premise appears relatively straightforward: a film crew is on the set of their newest indie horror movie (a haunted hotel) and a malevolent force makes itself known.

News: HBO Announces Details for Game of Thrones Prequel

As fans of Game of Thrones may already know, the final season of the insanely popular series isn’t set to return to our television sets until 2019.  According The Verge, this intentional delay was meant to give HBO time to come up with a plan for what comes next. Trust me, they did not disappoint. The network recently announced that it has green-lit a pilot episode for one of the five spin-offs under consideration.  Said to be a prequel, the show will be written by Jane Goodman (Kingsman: The

News: Battle Royale Mode Coming to Battlefield V

There’s much ado about something over Swedish game developer DICE’s recent E3 2018 presentation!  Battlefield V is getting a battle royale mode!  It won’t be included at launch, which is set for October 19, but it is coming. According to Gamespot, the game’s creative director Lars Gustavsson stated that there’s a lot of support internally to add this particular feature.  He elaborates, explaining that many of DICE’s employees play battle royale games themselves so the introduction of this parti

Game Review: Juicy Realm

Juicy Realm.  What a cute name for an adorable game, right?  And this is definitely an adorable game.  I mean, I love dungeon crawls but I really didn’t know what I was in for when I started playing.  Boy, was I pleasantly surprised! Released earlier this month on May 3, 2018, Juicy Realm was developed by SpaceCan Games and published by X.D. Network Inc.  Personally, I think it’s well worth the $9.99 price tag on Steam but keep in mind that this is not a serious or deep game.  It’s tagged “casu

Movie Reivew: Troll, Inc.

Trolls. Love ’em or hate ‘em, they’re a constant feature of online communication. But those people who just love to stir up trouble in Facebook comment sections or discussion forums? They’re barely rank amateurs. Real trolls, like Andrew “Weev” Auernheimer, are several cuts above the rest, turning trolling into an art form. In fact, Troll Inc., a documentary released on May 22, 2018, focuses on exactly what it was that put Aurnheimer behind bars. In 2011, the FBI arrested Auernheimer for his pa

News: Jared Leto Set to Return as The Joker in New DC Film

Is Warner Brothers planning a spin-off film based on Jared Leto’s Joker? Rumor has it that they are, with the film possibly going into production in 2019. Of course, this isn’t the first bit of Joker-related gossip to come out of the DC Universe. Following the character’s appearance in Suicide Squad in 2016, several new films were rumored to be in the works, including both a Harley Quinn spin-off and one highlighting the lunatic love story between the Joker and Harley. This latest news, howeve

News: Is Diablo 4 in the Works at Blizzard?

Did you know that it’s been six years since Blizzard released Diablo III? Well, it has! In fact, it was released worldwide in May 2012, receiving mostly positive reviews from players and critics. Given its age, though, it might be hard to believe that it still has solid fan base but it does—myself being one of them. If you are, too, I have some exciting news: Diablo 4 appears to be on its way! Of course, I wouldn’t break into a happy dance just yet, though. There’s a reason I said it only “appe

News: Call of Duty Players Charged in Wichita 911 Swatting

Police charged Tyler Barriss (25) and Call of Duty players Casey Viner (18) and Shane Gaskill (19) for their roles in a fake emergency called in to 911. Their actions resulted in the untimely death of 28-year-old Andrew Finch. Finch had no link to the suspects in any way. According to reports, Viner convinced Barriss to call in the hoax with the sole intent of causing Gaskill grief by sending over the cops.  The reason?  They argued over a Call of Duty match in which Viner’s character was kille

Comic Review - Under: Scourge of the Sewer #1

Well, folks, it’s time to head down under and I don’t mean Australia. Today’s review is going to focus on Titan Comic’s new graphic novel Under: Scourge of the Sewer #1. Authored by Italian comic writer Stefano Raffaele and French comic designer Christophe Bec, Under #1 was released on December 13, 2017. So I have to admit, I expected something totally different. I don’t know why but for some reason, I pictured kobolds or something like that running amok under the streets of New York City. Inst

Travel Article - National Park Getaways

It was my maiden expedition from Michigan to New Mexico, visiting my parents, who were “snow-birding” in Alamogordo. I had never seen the southwestern United States and had always been a fan of eco-tourism. With all of its natural attractions, New Mexico seemed like a wonderful place to spend my seven days of spring vacation. Standing at the cluster of mailboxes at the end of my parents’ street, I could see a thin strip of white nestled at the foot of the San Andres Mountains.

Movie Review: Soft Matter

An angry sea-god, crazy scientists, and a couple of graffiti artists. What could go wrong with that combo, eh? That, gentle readers, is exactly the question that tonight’s low-budget film Soft Matter tries to answer. Distributed by Wild Eye Releasing and produced by Demon Janx, the film is set to release sometime in 2018. Soft Matter is a weird movie. I won’t lie—I am so stunned by what I just watched that I’m not even certain how this review is going to go. I’m pretty sure my reaction was 50%

Movie Review: The Jurassic Games

Do you love the Jurassic Park franchise?  Are you a fan of The Hunger Games?  Well then you, my friend, are going to love Uncork’d Entertainment’s newest science-fiction thriller!  Coming to Video-on-Demand this summer, The Jurassic Games is a fun low-budget film that pits murderer against dinosaur. Seriously, how can you not love that? Sometime in the not-too-distant future, death-row inmates compete against each other on a game show set in virtual reality.  The story centers around a group o

Movie Review: The Nursery

I think it’s safe to say that I am a die-hard horror fan.  As such, I’ve watched some terrible films and some good ones.  And to be honest, there are very few horror films I would outright write off as being too bad to watch.  Luckily, The Nursery, coming to video-on-demand on June 5, 2018, is not one of those films.  No, it’s not stellar…but it’s not bad either. College student Ranae arrives at the home of Roman and Tanya, where she’ll be babysitting their three-month old baby Miller.  Shortly
